J&K police arrests starlet Laila Khan's stepfather in Bangalore

The Jammu and Kashmir police today said that they have arrested the stepfather of missing Bollywood starlet Laila Khan in Bangalore on charges of murdering his step daughter and her family members.

Asif Sheikh was arrested in Bangalore on the basis of the statements made by Parvez Iqbal Tak, who had alleged that Laila and her mother and sister were killed in the outskirts of Mumbai,  CNN IBN reported.

"The police are looking at the possibility of Laila Khan and her family members being killed in Mumbai. The police are likely to visit Mumbai for further investigation in the case," Garib Das, DIG Doda Ramban range was quoted as saying.

Tak, allegedly a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, was also reportedly married briefly to Laila was also remanded to police custody for eight days and is expected to be interrogated further in the case.
A team from the Mumbai police will also be seeking his custody.

Pakistan-born starlet Laila Khan went missing with her mother and sister in 2011. Her father had filed a missing persons complaint following which investigations had begun in the case.

Laila had featured opposite Rajesh Khanna in film Wafaa in 2008.
