Jane the Virgin spin off in the works; Gina Rodriguez to serve as executive producer

As the fifth and final season of Jane the Virgin, starring Gina Rodriguez in the lead comes to an end, it has been reported that the show will soon have a spin off. The CW[/caption] The creative team of the original series are teaming up for the upcoming project: creator/executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman, lead actor Gina Rodriguez, executive producer Ben Silverman, executive producer/director Brad Silberling and studio CBS TV Studios, writes Deadline. The show will be penned by Valentina Garza and directed by Brad Silberling. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plot details are still under wraps but there will be an all new cast. However, it is unknown whether any of the original cast members will also make an appearance in the show. Jane the Virgin has been nominated for the Golden Globes and mentions in Emmys as well as Peabody Awards. Rodriguez had previously revealed that the fifth season of the show would be its last . She has recently starred in the action film _Miss Bala_ , a remake of  Gerardo Naranjo’s 2011 Spanish language film, which was Mexico’s official entry for the best foreign language film category of the 2012 Academy Awards.
