India's Got Latent controversy: Ranveer Allahbadia admits to his mistake in a police statement, says, 'Went to Samay Raina's show because...'

Ranveer Allahbadia has garnered severe criticism for his distasteful ‘parents’ sex’ joke at Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent. Several FIRs have been registered against both the YouTubers along with all the people associated with the show including Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani.

Now, in a statement given to police, Ranveer has said that it was his mistake that he crossed the line and he should not have said that.

“I am a friend of Samay Raina. That is why I went to that show. It was my mistake to say the line which has caused controversy. I should not have said that,” said Ranveer to the police in his statement as per ABP News.

“We are YouTubers and that is why we keep coming on each other’s shows due to friendship,” he added.

Recently, the Centre aka Information and Broadcasting Ministry has warned Social media channels and OTT websites to follow the Code of Ethics prescribed in the IT Rules (2021) and ensure self-regularisation critically to implement ‘access control’ on ‘18+ content’ so that children could avoid inappropriate content.

The notification from the Centre said that it had received the complaint about the “spread of obscene, pornographic, and vulgar content by certain publishers of online curated content (OTT platforms) and social media”.

This was followed by harsh questions from the Supreme Court as a bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice N Kotiswar Singh came down hard on  Mr Allahbadia  for his lewd comment. “Union of India is a party… We would like to do something. Government of India will willingly do it, we will be very happy. Otherwise, we are not going to leave this vacuum. The way it is being misused by so-called YouTube channels… we have issued notice…” the court had said.
