Just when Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversy was dying down, we have another comedian who has landed in legal trouble, and he is none other than ‘Bigg Boss’ fame Munawar Faruqui.

He has landed in legal trouble because of his show Hafta Vasooli. Advocate Amita Sachdeva tweeted the details on his X account and said, “I have officially filed a complaint against habitual offender Munawar Faruqui, for his show “Hafta Wasooli” streamed on @JioHotstar, requesting an FIR under BNS Sections 196, 299, and 353, along with the IT Act and other relevant Sections for:

🔸 Promoting vulgarity
🔸 Insulting multiple religions
🔸 Violating cultural values
🔸 Polluting young minds & society.”

He added, “After filing this complaint, it is evident that the Accused himself lacks the courage to respond, so he is hiding behind his lackeys, who are spewing filth in his defense. But what else can one expect from those who shamelessly support a degenerate individual whose sole intent is to pollute society with his filth?”

Ranveer Allahbadia’s distasteful ‘parents’ sex’ joke at Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent has been in the news for quite some time now. While all the big names associated with the show have landed in legal trouble, the Centre aka Information and Broadcasting Ministry has warned Social media channels and OTT websites to follow the Code of Ethics prescribed in the IT Rules (2021) and ensure self-regularisation critically to implement ‘access control’ on ‘18+ content’ so that children could avoid inappropriate content.

The notification from the Centre said that it had received the complaint about the “spread of obscene, pornographic, and vulgar content by certain publishers of online curated content (OTT platforms) and social media”.

It stressed that the law wants OTT platforms to “not transmit any content which is prohibited by law (and) undertake age-based classification of content”.

“Further, the Rules provide that self-regulatory bodies of OTT platforms shall oversee and ensure alignment and adherence by the OTT platforms to the Code of Ethics,” the notification said.
