Actor Imran Khan, who gained wide popularity with his role in Bollywood film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, has been missing in action over the years. The 40-year-old was last seen opposite Kangana Ranaut in the 2015 film Katti Batti. In the latest, the Kidnap actor shared an anecdote from his shooting days on Instagram. As part of the post, the actor opened up about how since _Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na_ had not yet been released, he was not considered to have any star value. In addition, the producers were not very enthusiastic about casting him. Take a look:

On shooting for Kidnap
Based on an Instagram post, Imran Khan shared that he was close to wrapping up the shoot for Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na when he was called to audition for Kidnap. Director Sanjay Gadhvi had already directed the first two Dhoom films. Imran also played antagonist for actor Sanjay Dutt, which he called ‘a huge opportunity!’ For Kabir and Sonia, the lead characters in Kidnap, several screen tests were conducted before signing Minissha Lamba for the role of the latter.
On not having a star value
At that time, Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na had not yet been released and according to Imran Khan, he was not considered to possess any star value. For this very reason, ’the producers were not very enthusiastic about casting him’. He further added, “I got the part thanks to dual support from the director and writer Shibani Bathija, for which I am grateful to this day.”
Imran went on to add how he was ‘only allowed to read the scenes I was in’. Not just this, he added that he was given printouts of scenes only a day or two before they were scheduled to be shot’.
On working opposite Minissha Lamba
Talking about an incident from 2007 in Mauritius, when he still used a Nokia phone, he admitted not having many pictures from the shoot. On working with his Kidnap co-star, he added, “She was lovely to work with; intelligent, articulate, and self-assured.”

Imran Khan made his acting debut with Genelia Deshmukh in the 2008 film Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. Later, he has been part of movies like I Hate Luv Stories, Break Ke Baad, Delhi Belly, Luck among others. The actor recently wore the director’s hat in 2018 for a mainstream cinematic short film titled Mission Mars: Keep Walking India.
As per reports, the actor is set to return to the screens after a long gap.
