Imran Khan finally breaks silence on his divorce with Avantika Malik: ‘We didn’t have a healthy dynamic’

After making his last screen appearance in 2015’s Katti Batti, Imran Khan took a break from acting. The actor, who was married to his childhood friend Avantika Malik, separated in 2019 and has been legally divorced for ‘a couple of years’.

The actor finally opened up about his separation from Avantika and said his mental illness affected the marriage. “I’m hesitant to add a lot of fuel to the gossip fire, but as I was dealing with all of this baggage and my internal struggle, I did find that my marriage and my relationship were not helping any of that. In an ideal, healthy dynamic between two people, you are both making each other better, healthier, stronger, and supporting each other to be the healthiest, best, strongest version. We were not in that place,” said Imran while talking to India Today.

As per the reports of his Bollywood comeback, the actor shares whether he will return to showbiz with the sequel to  _Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na_ . “Jaane Tu was the story of so many people. But for my part, it was the journey of Jai from boyhood to manhood. It is the story of two young people growing up, understanding what they seek in a partner and finding their way to love. It culminates so nicely that I don’t know what additional emotional growth you could have for these characters,” the actor told Vogue.

Sharing an anecdote from his debut film, he added, “There’s this scene in the beginning where all of us gather for Aditi’s cat’s funeral and when I crouch to give my eulogy, my knee makes this cracking sound. They didn’t edit it out and if you turn up the volume, you can hear it. It’s gotten worse with age. Do yoga, kids.”
