News agency ANI tweeted few hours ago about the arrest of Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan in Dubai. The tweet read- “Pakistan’s Geo News reports, singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been arrested in Dubai over a defamation complaint by his former manager Salman Ahmed, according to Dubai police sources. Rahat’s former manager Ahmed had submitted complaints against him to the Dubai authorities, as per the sources.”

It added, “It was revealed by the sources that Rahat had dismissed Ahmed a few months earlier following a dispute. Moreover, the sources also said that both Rahat and Ahmed had filed cases against each other.”

The singer then shared a video on his Instagram account and called the reports baseless. “I came to Dubai to record a song. Some malicious reports are circulating about my arrest. Please do not believe them,” he said in the video.

Khan recently made headlines after his video of assaulting his domestic help had gone viral on social media.

The singer released a video where he rendered an apology and also revealed what actually happened between them. Khan said in the video- “He is my protégé and I accepted that I scolded and trashed him. Later I apologised. Till this point, it was fine but people are making fun of it. But the truth is he had my holy water with him. People are not understanding the intensity of the situation. It’s a very serious matter for me as it involves my spiritual guide.”
