Suriya, Bobby Deol and Disha Patani starrer Kanguva, which is made on a lavish budget, is set to have a wide release globally with 10,000 screens. The pan-India period war drama has created a lot of buzz and while it is expected to be a milestone in Suriya’s career, trade expert Ramesh Bala has predicted that it will be the biggest global opener for the Jai Bhim star.

Speaking about its buzz in Tamil Nadu, Bala told Firstpost, “The buzz is good in the state of Tamil Nadu. So, it should open well. I mean, most of the bookings are, like, slightly open a little late, actually. Only yesterday, last night only, they opened, but still some of them are yet to open. But okay. The buzz is reasonably good. And, for Surya, it should take the biggest opening for Surya. And, we have to see how the content is, to see beyond the opening, how it is going to perform. That we have to wait and see. But, okay. Going in tomorrow, tomorrow, it should open, well, actually.”

Sharing his prediction on the opening of the Hindi version along with the global market, he said, “See, basically, in the Hindi market, I’m expecting a softer opening only. I’m not expecting any earth-shattering opening or anything in Hindi markets. It is also releasing in PVR, Inox, the multiplexes, which a lot of other Tamil big Tamil movies missed earlier. So it should earn more than the previous ones. Maybe it will do like Rs 3 to 5 crores in Hindi on day 1 or something like that. Talking about global opening, I am expecting something like Rs 75 crores.”

When asked whether Sivakarthikeyan & Sai Pallavi’s Amaran, which is enjoying phenomenal run at the box office, will impact the business of Kanguva, Ramesh replied, “It will affect the business of Kanguva to some extent because people who have not seen Amaran, they may want to see it this weekend because Amaran has got a lot of good buzz already. If people have missed it in the earlier 2 weeks, they may see it, this 3rd week. So it will it may it will affect Kanguva to some extent. So probably, Kanguva has to catch up in the longer run.”

When asked with a lot of budget is involved how much _Kanguva_ needs to earn to get into the safe zone, Ramesh answered," See, basically, to get into some kind of profit, I would say, at least should it should gross Rs 500 crore or something. You know, that would be an ideal target for it. It has got some revenue already from the OTT market but satellite is not sold to any direct TV, but if it grosses Rs 500 crores, it will be good because the expectations are high. At least 500 crores would be nice to be considered as this thing. Or anything not of 400 crores also would be good. Rs 400 to 500 crores, I think, at least, it should do. Then it will get some Rs 250 crores share. Then with the other revenues, it will be profitable. Something like Rs 400 to Rs 500 crore I would expect.
