Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat beats Sanam Teri Kasam to become Harshvardhan Rane's highest grosser of all-time at the box office

Despite garnering negative reviews and facing stiff competition from Ayushmann Khurrana-Rashmika Mandanna starrer Thamma, Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat emerged as a Diwali winner at the box office.

Till now, the film has collected around Rs 54 crore against its modest budget of Rs 25 (excluding P&A). It has surpassed the business of Sanam Teri Kasam (Rs 50 crore, including re-release collections) to emerge as Rane’s highest grosser of all time.

It would be interesting to see how the arrival of Baahubali: The Epic would impact the business of Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat at the ticket windows.

Rane, the leading man of the film, recently went at a multiplex to check the reaction of the film and thank the audience for their love on both his film and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma.

The actor said, “This Diwali, you supported the films of two outsiders. Ayushmann Khurrana’s film has released along with mine. Watch both the films, please, and enjoy both. This sends a good message out that aap logon ne akele poora ka poora Bollywood se nepotism hi khatm kar diya (you people alone finished nepotism from the entire Bollywood)."

Talking about the review, Firstpost gave the film 2 stars and wrote, “The film has dialogues Main woh Ravana hoon jo Sita ko khud ghar chodke aayega. We also see a seasoned actor like Sachin Khedekar in futile roles. A lot of chatter has happened how this is the first Bollywood film in 22 years to release on Diwali with an A certificate. The last I guess was  Vikram Bhatt’s Inteha. Zaveri needs to loosen up a bit. His hyperactive stories border on the cringe. He made his debut with Kaante as a writer and those delicious one liners still feel contagious. There were moments of inspired mirth in Main Tera Hero too. But he was stung by the bug of box-office, and then began insufferable monikers like Marjawaan, Satyameva Jayate 1 and 2, and unfortunately this one too.”
