Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak's Dhak Dhak: The film breaks all barriers of ageism & racism

Ratna Pathak Shah, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Dia Mirza and Sanjana Sanghi’s Dhak Dhak which is co-produced by Taapsee Pannu talks about smashing patriarchy, breaking ageism and racism in Bollywood. With all its flaws, it is refreshing to see four women break all barriers and take a road trip from Delhi to Leh. Dhak Dhak has got nothing to do with Madhuri Dixit’s Dhak Dhak, this is different and empowering. And the best part of this movie is that it doesn’t bore you down with pseudo feminism. It’s full of action and humorous moments.

Every woman character in  _Dhak Dhak_  has a story and they are trying to break all stereotypes created by our society. Roaring loud on their bikes, they are not willing to compromise on their biking expedition to Leh. The movie is about self-discovery and women’s bond. For every woman it is very important to have a life of your own and a friend circle of your own. A friend circle which has got nothing to do with your family, but completely yours.

Ratna Pathak Shah plays the role of a grandmother, Mahi who spent most of her life baby-sitting her grandchildren.  Dia Mirza ‘Uzma who wants to take a break from her dominating husband. She is tired of cooking meals for her husband and his friends and keeping him happy in bed too after all the cooking and entertaining the guests.

Patriarchy and misogyny are shown in a very subtle way. Not a husband who beats up his wife, but knows how to torture with no scars to be seen.

Fatima Sana Shaikh plays the role of Sky, the YouTuber in search of a million subscribers and wants to correct her past when her nude pictures got viral accidentally. Then comes the submissive Manjari played by Sanjana Sanghi whose single mother is only interested in getting her married. Each of the bikers are willing to come out of their comfort zone and take this difficult ride of their life. Dhak Dhak is the heartbeat of the machines and the four fabulous women who ride it.

Dhak Dhak is a feel good film with its flaws. Now, what didn’t work for the film is that all the characters were well written, but somehow it felt that the film was not stitched well.

Dhak Dhak is playing in cinemas near you. Read all the  Latest News ,  Trending News ,  Cricket News ,  Bollywood News , India News  and  Entertainment News  here. Follow us on  Facebook,  Twitter and  Instagram.
