Deepika Padukone on charging 'premium' fees with Ranveer Singh: 'There's imbalance in power couple but...'

Deepika Padukone, who is being widely praised for her cameo in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan, recently opened up about her relationship with actor-husband Ranveer Singh. In a recent interview with The Week, on being tagged as the ’number one power couple of Bollywood’, the Pathaan actress replied that the duo charge ‘premium’ while working on a project. Not just this, the 37-year-old also added that they hold an identical balance of power between them, unlike other celebrity couples.

Deepika on charging more for working together

Deepika Padukone further told the magazine, “Yes, we charge a premium when we come together. I think we are positioned uniquely. There is usually an imbalance in a power couple, but not with us. Plus, both of us started from scratch and are very proud of ourselves. To succeed on merit and on one’s own terms makes us special.”

Based on a Duff & Phelps annual report, part of a risk and financial advisory called Kroll, both Deepika and Ranveer have consistently occupied a spot in the Top 10 of India’s most valued celebrities.

Deepika Padukone ’s brand value

The Week reported that Deepika Padukone, who has been the brand ambassador for Indian brands Tanishq, Asian Paints and Axis Bank as well as international designer labels Louis Vuitton and Cartier, charges Rs 12-15 crore per film. While, on the other hand, there are barely any female stars who have crossed the Rs 10 crore-mark. Not counting Priyanka Chopra, who moved to Hollywood, the Om Shanti Om actress is among India’s top-paid female actors.

On not charging for cameos

While both Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh charge exorbitant fees for collaborations, the Chennai Express actress also revealed that she didn’t charge a penny for her special appearances in her husband’s films 83 and Cirkus.

Deepika was a co-producer in 83 and had an extended cameo as Kapil Dev’s wife Romi. In Rohit Shetty’s Cirkus, she was featured in a special dance number alongside her husband.

Deepika and Ranveer’s relationship and professional commitments

Bollywood lovebirds Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh married in 2018 in Italy. The two dated for six years before tying the knot.
