Decoding Russell Brand Sex Case: UK police probe multiple sex assault claims following his revelations

The British Police said on Monday (September 25) that it received multiple sex offence allegations following news reports about British actor and comedian Russell Brand. Four women accused Brand, 48, of a string of sexual assaults. The accusations came to light following a joint investigation by _The Time_s, The Sunday Times and Channel 4 television which went public on September 16. In a statement on Monday, London’s Metropolitan Police said, “Following an investigation by Channel 4’s Dispatches and The Sunday Times, the Met has received a number of allegations of sexual offences in London.” Police in London said early last week that they had received a report of alleged sexual assault following the revelations. In an update Monday, the Met said that it has since received a “number of allegations of sexual offences in London” as well as elsewhere in the UK. In the report, she alleged that in the emotionally abusive relationship that lasted three months, the comedian used to call her “the child.” Russell Brand continues to deny allegation Brand has denied the allegations, saying his relationships have always been “consensual”, even during a period when he admitted being “very, very promiscuous”. During his regular online video platform show Brand said Monday he would talk about the “collusion between big tech and government and an apparent concerted effort by legacy media… to silence independent media voices”. “Obviously, it’s difficult for me to be entirely objective given the events of the last week, but that’s what we must try to do,” he added, without directly addressing the new police update. Katy Perry revealed that she was deeply in love with Russell Brand when they got married in India on October 23, 2010. However, their relationship lasted just 14 months, ending with a breakup text from him on New Year’s Eve in 2011. Initially, the “Roar” singer blamed herself for the breakup, until she discovered what she calls the “real truth” about him.
