Family background and tryst with cinema

Rishab Shetty was born in a middle class family. His trust and tryst with cinema happened when he studied filmmaking at the Government Film and Television Institute (GFTI), Bangalore. But before that, there were many odd jobs that he dabbled with. He worked in the real estate business and if reports are to be believed, also sold water bottles and worked as a driver.

What the Kantara actor said about his struggles

“I used to be an office boy at a production house in Andheri West and a producer’s driver. So you can imagine what cinema can do. I never even thought that making one film would bring me so much reputation, love, and blessings. While eating vada pav on the road near that production house, I could never have imagined I would come this far. I am extremely grateful.”

The Kantara success

Rishab Shetty and Rukmini Vasanth starrer Kantara: Chapter 1 is in no mood to slow down at the box office. The epic mythological drama is not only shattering records at the domestic market but also doing phenomenal business in the overseas circuits.

In just 6 days, Kantara: Chapter 1 has grossed over Rs 410 crore at the global box office and emerged as the 2nd highest Kannada grosser of all-time after KGF 2 (Rs 1250 crore), beating its sequel Kantara (Rs 408 crore).

Since there are no big releases this weekend, Kantara: Chapter 1 will continue its dominance at the ticket windows. Looking at the current scenario, the film is expected to enter the Rs 500 crore club by the end of its 2nd weekend.
