Rishab Shetty and Rukmini Vasanth starrer Kantara: Chapter 1 is in no mood to slow down at the box office. The epic mythological drama is not only shattering records at the domestic market but also doing phenomenal business in the overseas circuits.
In just 6 days, _Kantara: Chapter 1_ has grossed over Rs 410 crore at the global box office and emerged as the 2nd highest Kannada grosser of all-time after KGF 2 (Rs 1250 crore), beating its sequel Kantara (Rs 408 crore).
Since there are no big releases this weekend, Kantara: Chapter 1 will continue its dominance at the ticket windows. Looking at the current scenario, the film is expected to enter the Rs 500 crore club by the end of its 2nd weekend.
In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Rishab spoke about the visuals and script of Kantara and said, “It was very new for me. It was a huge budget for me. My third film was a film called Sarkari, it was a children’s film. We made that film in around Rs 4-4.5 crore. Kantara was made at a budget of Rs 14-15 crore so I was literally tensed. This was the first big budget film of my life. But it was just not a Kannada film. It transcended to Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. Everything happened stage after stage. But the way people supported the movie and made it a commercial success, my big budget became really small. And that was a reason why we were able to explore the opportunity to make the film on such a big scale. I would like to thank the audience through the medium of Firstpost for giving us so much love and blessings. Now the responsibility is to tell better stories and put more effort and entertain more. We also have to study a lot more about the folklore of India.”
