Konkona Sen Sharma was recently seen in JoiHotstar, show ‘Search: The Naina Murder Case’ where she plays a cop. Being a director in real life, Konkona understands the finer details of her character like the back of her hand.

Here she plays the role of a strong woman, yet she is navigating her own demons and is a little confused too as she doesn’t really know what she actually wants from life. Talking to Firstpost on ageism, Konkona says, _“_There is so much ageism and it limits the viewing of human being when you see them only limited to one role or one identity. It is important to look at them outside their roles; not just as a mother or a Hindu or a young person. Let’s not limit ourselves. All of us are an amalgamation of different identities.”

Women are not just dealing with ageism, they are dealing with motherhood penalty too in all industries unlike men. In an earlier interview with Firstpost Konkona spoke about ‘motherhood penalty’ and ‘fatherhood premium’. She explained , “I genuinely want to say that in today’s day and age, there is a certain motherhood penalty in any industry which happens. It’s called the fatherhood premium and the motherhood penalty. Because what happens is that fathers, as they have children and they become more and more senior, they earn more and more. But for women with every child, there is a financial setback because you’re not able to kind of participate in the way society expects you to or for that matter what the office work demands.”

About ‘ Search: The Naina Murder Case

Search: The Naina Murder Case exposes the dark side of internet, social media and information overdose. Sanyukta is paired with another young officer who is being brought to replace her when she moves out of Mumbai. The role of this over confident and brash officer, Jai Kanwal from Haryana is played by Surya Sharma. His way of handling cases is way different from Sanyukta. Being new to Mumbai, he just can’t get over his north Indian palate and his love for chola bhatura.  He is immature and is always in a hurry.

Based on Danish television phenomenon The Killing (Forbrydelsen), originally produced by DR Drama, the series is made keeping the Indian sensitivity in mind. The show starts with the murder of a college girl after a college fest. The body of this teenage girl named Naina, was discovered in a politician’s car.
