Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan and Rakul Preet Singh’s latest rom-com has kicked off with an impressive 9.45 crore on Day 1 in India. What makes this opening truly stand out is that these figures come with no holiday and no ticket offers. The film has pulled in audiences purely on the strength of its content and strong word of mouth.
The humour, emotional beats and the much-talked-about performances of the lead cast have clearly clicked with viewers, resulting in a steady rise in footfalls through the day. It has opened better than movies like Kesari 2 (Rs 7.84 crore), Deva (Rs 5.78 crore) & Param Sundari (Rs 7.37 crore).
With positive audience sentiment and an upward trend since Friday evening, Saturday numbers are likely to show a healthy jump.
Talking about the review, Firstpost gave De De Pyaar De 2 , 3.5 stars and wrote, “Just like the first part, DDPD 2 majorly works because of the smooth blend of humour and chaos with a tadka of family drama, which is more fun than being dramatic. Director Anshul Sharma impresses with his storytelling and makes this relevant tale entertaining and a breezy watch. While he will make you believe the characters are problematic, Sharma smartly adds twists to make you cheer, smile and laugh. The meta jokes and hilarious dialogues amplify the viewing experience.
Talking about the performances, Ajay Devgn is subtle and impactful as he reprises Ashish, while Rakul gets the chance to show her acting mettle with a superb character arc, but it’s R. Madhavan, who has stolen the show with his superlative act as Rakesh and his performance will find relevance and applause among the fathers of girls. Gautami and Ishita, too, played their roles to the T. While Jaaved won the hearts with his witty one-liners, Meezaan impressed with his charm and onscreen charisma.”
De De Pyaar De 2 is directed by Anshul Sharma and produced by T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar & Krishan Kumar, and Luv Films’ Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg.
