Dangal, Alia Bhatt, Manoj Bajpayee, Neerja, Kapoor & Sons: Film critics announce best of 2016

Dangal has been voted the Best Film of 2016 by a jury comprising 23 of India’s best known movie critics.

Movies portal Film Companion brought together critics like Firstpost’s Anna MM Vetticad, Mayank Shekhar, Deepanjana Pal, Rajeev Masand, Khalid Mohammed, Nandini Ramnath, Namrata Joshi, Rahul Desai, Bhawana Somaaya and Anupama Chopra to come up with a list of the best that the Hindi film industry had to offer in the year gone by.

Apart from Dangal, the Film Companion poll also conferred these honours:

Best Director to Ram Madhvani for Neerja

Best Actor to Manoj Bajpayee for Aligarh

Best Actress to Alia Bhatt for Udta Punjab and Dear Zindagi

Best Writer to Shakun Batra and Ayesha Devitre Dhillon for Kapoor & Sons
