Bhumi Pednekar visits new Parliament with 'Thank You For Coming' cast, praises Women's Reservation Bill

Bhumi Pednekar visits new Parliament with 'Thank You For Coming' cast, praises Women's Reservation Bill

The passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill, officially known as ‘Narishakti Vandan Adhiniyam’, is being hailed all across the country. In the latest, actress Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, along with the cast of their upcoming film, Thank You For Coming, visited the new Parliament building.

The team also comprised content creators Shibani Bedi and Dolly Singh. On Wednesday, 20 September, Union Minister Anurag Thakur joined the stars inside Parliament.

The bill, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, seeks to provide 33 per cent reservation for women in the lower house and State Legislative Assemblies.

Producer Ekta Kapoor shared pictures of the stars from inside Parliament building on her Instagram feed. She captioned the post, “It (the bill) paves a great path for Indian women of all backgrounds to take charge and lead us into a brighter future.”

Bhumi Pednekar on women’s presence

Bhumi Pednekar told ANI that as a modern Indian woman, representation is very critical for them. It is imperative to view things from a female perspective, and there is no better time than now. In the end, she expressed gratitude for being able to enjoy the historic moment alongside the dream cast.

Shehnaaz on the Women’s Reservation Bill

Shehnaaz Gill in a conversation with ANI, after touring the new Parliament, said that the state of the art embodies our country’s culture. Shedding light on the proposed Women’s Reservation Bill, the Honsla Rakh actress called it a great step.

Sharing her personal journey, she added that she came from a small village where girls are married off quickly as this helps them get settled. But with representation, she said, if girls and boys are treated as equal, many things in the country will change.

Content creator Shibani Bedi called the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill a beautiful moment and a landmark in history. With this, she added, women from all facets of life will be able to participate in law-making. “So, I think it is a great development,” she told the news agency.

Dolly Singh shares her views Dolly Singh talked about the necessity for women leaders and women to go ahead in today’s time and age. She further expressed delight at the opportunity to visit Parliament and attend the session. Not just this, she also called it a ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’.

Besides Bhumi Pednekar**,** Dolly Singh, Shehnaaz Gill and Shibani Bedi, the session at parliament was previously also attended by Bollywood divas Kangana Ranaut and Esha Gupta.
