Beyonce enters billionaire club at 44: A look at how she built her net worth

Global music icon Beyoncé has officially joined the billionaire ranks, becoming only the fifth musician in history to reach a net worth of 1 billion USD, according to a Forbes assessment of her wealth. Her entry into this exclusive club, alongside her husband Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Bruce Springsteen, reflects an extraordinary mix of artistry, entrepreneurship, and ownership of her creative output.

Forbes attributes much of Beyoncé’s financial success to her record-breaking touring career. Her 2023 Renaissance World Tour grossed nearly USD 600 million, and her 2025 Cowboy Carter Tour, tied to her Grammy-winning country album Cowboy Carter, became the highest-grossing concert tour of the year, earning more than USD 400 million in ticket sales plus USD 50 million from merchandise. Combined with substantial earnings from songwriter royalties, catalogue ownership, and sponsorships, these figures were instrumental in pushing her net worth past the billionaire threshold.

Beyoncé’s business portfolio extends well beyond the stage. She founded Parkwood Entertainment in 2010, a company that manages her music, tours, and visual productions, allowing her to retain a larger share of revenues by controlling most aspects of her artistic output. Her ventures have included a hair-care brand (Cécred) and a whiskey label (SirDavis), which have also contributed to her financial ecosystem, though Forbes notes that touring and music rights remain the dominant sources of her wealth.

Offstage, Beyoncé and Jay-Z maintain a multi-million-dollar real estate portfolio that includes high-end properties such as a USD 200 million Malibu mansion and a USD 88 million Bel-Air estate, among others. Her collection of luxury cars, including a reported USD 28 million Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, and custom jewellery pieces underscore a lifestyle built on decades of cultural influence and commercial success.

Beyoncé’s billionaire milestone arrives at age 44, capped by several years of consistent commercial power. In 2025 alone, Forbes estimates she earned USD 148 million before taxes, making her one of the highest-paid musicians in the world for the year.

While many fans celebrate her historic financial achievement, it also highlights a broader trend in the music industry: live performance and catalogue ownership have become among the most lucrative revenue streams for top artists in the streaming age. Beyoncé’s journey, from a member of Destiny’s Child to a self-owned entertainment empire, illustrates how musical royalty, entrepreneurial strategy, and ownership rights can intersect to create enduring wealth, influence, and legacy.
