The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) says it has suspended its nomination of director Bryan Singer amid accusations that he sexually assaulted minors . Singer had been among those nominated for his work on the Queen biopic _Bohemian Rhapsody_ , from which he was fired in late 2017 with just weeks left in production. The suspension will remain until the allegations have been resolved, BAFTA said. The film and others nominated for it will remain eligible for BAFTAs, including in the outstanding film category. The BAFTA awards will be presented on Sunday in London. The Atlantic magazine last month published an expose detailing the stories of four alleged victims who said they were seduced and molested by the Singer while underage. Singer denied the allegations and called the article a “homophobic smear piece.” Bohemian Rhapsody was also removed from consideration for the 30th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in the outstanding film category, GLAAD announced last week. The organisation monitors portrayals of LGBTQ people in film and TV. “This week’s story in The Atlantic documenting unspeakable harms endured by young men and teenage boys brought to light a reality that cannot be ignored or even tacitly rewarded,” GLAAD said in a statement. Singer was fired from Bohemian Rhapsody after alleged bad behaviour, including disappearing from set for long periods of time and clashing with his lead actor, Rami Malek. Singer shot down reports that he and Malek were at odds. “While, at times, we did have creative differences on set, Rami and I successfully put those differences behind us and continued to work on the film together until just prior to Thanksgiving,” he said after he was fired. Malek, who has already won a Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild Award for his portrayal of Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury, is also nominated for a best-actor BAFTA and for a best-actor Oscar.
