Aneet Padda’s sister Reet Padda has found herself at the centre of a social media storm after her remarks on Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge went viral, eventually leading her to delete her Instagram account.

The controversy began when Reet responded to a comment on Instagram, where she labelled Dhurandhar 2 a “propaganda” film and grouped it with other politically debated titles.

In her post, she alleged that the film pushes a “government-friendly narrative,” even referencing elements like demonetisation to support her claim. She also drew comparisons with films like The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Story, further intensifying the debate online.

She wrote, “First, the whole thing about calling films like Kashmir Files, Kerala Files, and Dhurandhar propaganda. For Dhurandhar, it literally serves as a government-friendly narrative, using political speeches to justify, say, the minor hiccup of demonetisation. Call it propaganda? Yep. Deny it? Not a chance. But maybe your definition of propaganda is… different, who knows.”

Remarks on Priyanka Chopra added fuel

The situation escalated when Reet also commented on Priyanka Chopra, criticising her for remaining silent during a widely discussed moment at the 2026 Oscars. This widened the scope of the controversy, drawing in a larger section of social media users and amplifying the backlash.

The post read, “Third, Priyanka Chopra and her international platform. She’s got a chance to oppose an illegal war next to someone taking a stand, and… she can’t even clap. If my sister gets that kind of opportunity, and Inshallah, sache patshah, jai shri ram, I pray she rises to the occasion and she chooses to stand there like a dodo bird, I will be the first one to call it out. I’d love to hear more about this ‘aid’ Priyanka has supposedly provided. Enlighten me, please.”

Trolling, backlash and Instagram account deleted

Screenshots of Reet’s comments quickly went viral, triggering intense trolling and criticism across platforms.

While some users supported her right to express her views, many others strongly disagreed, with the backlash eventually extending to her sister Aneet as well.

As the backlash intensified, Reet first made her Instagram account private. Soon after, she deleted her account altogether, with reports also suggesting that her LinkedIn profile was taken down.
