Amid Netflix's ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ controversy, Sameer Wankhede breaks silence on animosity with Shah Rukh Khan: 'I'm a very...'

Sameer Wankhede, the ex-NCB officer, has finally reacted to the ongoing defamation lawsuit against Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Netflix over the series Ba***ds Of Bollywood, where he alleged that the show has damaged his reputation by showcasing a defamatory portrayal of him.

“There is none… I am an officer of law, whatever books and Acts are there, I do as per that. We are not living in some kind of a banana republic out here. We have a constitution, we have a system, we have a set up. There’s a chain of command. I am a very small man, just a government servant. How can anybody have such a grudge and all those things, you know? These things are just loose talks," Wankhede told HT while addressing the speculations about personal animosity with SRK.

Talking to NDTV, he shared, “I am fighting for the honour of the uniform and the law enforcement agencies that are toiling and giving their blood to serve the nation. They cannot be humiliated like that; they cannot be trolled like that. And thirdly, I am fighting for the honour of our national emblem, Satyamev Jayate, which cannot be mocked and made fun of.”

“People who are serving the nation, all the officers who are in the field, those who are part of anti-drug drives - these things hurt. Satire is a different thing altogether, but humiliating officers who have given blood to the nation, who are fighting against anti-drug activities - when such things happen, officers also feel bad about it,” he added.

What did    Sameer Wankhede say in his plea?

In his plea to the Delhi High Court, Sameer Wankhede said the series “disseminates a misleading and negative portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies, thereby eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions.”

The plea adds that the show “deliberately conceptualised and executed with the intent to malign Sameer Wankhede’s reputation in a colourable and prejudicial manner.”
