Many people have compared the Indian election to a masala Bollywood movie. It certainly has all the right ingredients. Patriotism, family values, melodrama…. and it’s really really long.

And like any good masala film worth.. well, its salt, there is the music.

From official anthems (The Congress one is rather preachy and the BJP’s a tad apocalyptic) to toe tapping campaign trail music, the spectrum and sheer variety of the music has been almost as impressive as the scale of the elections themselves.

From drummers to musicians, from blaring songs to impromptu ditties, and well a little bit of Ray Charles, this podcast is dedicated to the music of the Lok Sabha Elections 2014.
