In more trouble for mining major Sesa Goa, the Environment ministry today cancelled the clearance for the company’s mines in Pirna in North Goa. The move was based on the findings of the National Green Tribunal.
The action was taken because Sesa Goa suppressed vital information and followed faulty environment impact assessment, the ministry said. Also it did not take the consent of the local people there.

Noticeably the company is owned by Vedanta which is already in trouble for extracting more iron ore than permissible limits.
The move could have huge implications on the mining industry.
