In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, WPP chairman Martin Sorrell says that the London 2012 Olympic Games and the 2012 US presidential elections will have a significant impact on advertising.

Martin does believe that recent events will have some impact on consumer sentiment, though, at a micro level, growth will continue, at different speeds across the globe.

Multinational, multi-company groups will have to ask themselves whether the companies in a group ‘run holding hands’ or be set free; he favours setting them free.

Martin sees a good future for India, with Indian professionals in demand as Indian brands go global - and as the balance of power in advertising shifts to India, China, Brazil, and so on.
