TIBCO Enhances BusinessWorks Software

TIBCO has announced upgrades to BusinessWorks and released the new version of the software which aims to address the complexity of orchestration in a standards-based format for organizations that want to elevate their service-oriented architecture (SOA) to a higher level.

TIBCO BusinessWorks 5.4 claims to implement the OASIS Web Services Business Process Execution Language (WS-BPEL) 1.1 specification with the industry’s first support for BPEL 2.0 schemas.

The key features of TIBCO BusinessWorks 5.4 are:

• Advanced support for WS-BPEL

Provides orchestration that’s integrated with ESB technology

Advanced orchestration capability enables visibility into straight-through-process execution and allows for faster correction in exception cases

• More Pluggable Security Model

Enable authorization and authentication against external identity management systems

Access to the authentication context throughout a BusinessWorks process

• Monitoring of Distributed Transactions

Monitoring of in-flight transactions and retrieve transaction metrics via TIBCO Hawk or TIBCO Enterprise Management Advisor

• Improved Performance & Platform Support

Improved engine for data transformation

Support for next generation 64-bit platforms including Linux 64 bit, Solaris X86, 64-bit AIX, 64-bit HP-UX, 64-bit Solaris 9 and 64-bit Solaris 10.

Touting the new version, Ram Menon, executive vice president, worldwide marketing, TIBCO said, “One of the key features of version 5.4 is the ability to address the increasing complexity of orchestration. As a leader in adopting industry standards such as BPEL, TIBCO BusinessWorks will further help customers advance their service-oriented and event-driven architectures for enabling enterprise-wide growth.”

Other enhancements include support for Microsoft SQL 2005 and Oracle 10g R2 relational database management systems, as well as Tomcat 5.5, Jakarta 3.0.1. The new software is fully backwards compatible with previous versions of TIBCO BusinessWorks.

The TIBCO BusinessWorks version 5.4 is now generally available with pricing starting at $75,000.
