If you read that headline and were wondering whether it is actually faster than the Tesla Model S (with its highest spec), Motortrend claims that it actually is; provided what Dodge claims it can do is true. Oh yes and it can pull off wheelies as well thanks to all those weight savings.

If you haven’t figured out from the headline, this is a car that has been built for straight line performance. The wheels are 18 x 11 inches 315/40R18 Nitto street-legal drag radial tires with specific NTO 5R compound.

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is equipped with a set of four exclusive 315/40R18 Nitto NT05R street-legal drag radial tires, a first for a factory-production car.
The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon’s standard Air-Grabber intake system features a significantly larger air box that is sealed and ducted to the hood scoop.

And now for the stuff that matters. The Demon offers an engine that is the same as that on the Hellcat, but adds 97 new parts to the mix. The 6.2-litre Hellcat V-8 engine delivers 808 horsepower and 717lb-ft of torque on 91 octane gas and 840 hp along with 770lb-ft of torque on 100-plus high-octane fuel (for track use). This delivers a 0-60 mph in 2.1 seconds and a quarter mile in 9.65 seconds (at 140 mph). Oddly there is an Eco mode that limits the power range to 500hp and starts in second gear.
