 "Watching Dhoom 3 on Imax screen could cost you upto Rs 800 per ticket")
As most of the films released over the last quarter has received disappointing footfall, multiplexes are gearing up to rake in the revenues with two highly anticipated films--Dhoom 3 and Jai Ho. But when it comes to this week’s biggest release, some multiplexes will be charging a whopping Rs 800 per ticket.
Tickets fot the Imax screen in PVR Phoenix multiplex will cost moviegoers up to Rs 800 a ticket.
Kamal Gianchandani, president of PVR told the Times of India,“We only have two properties in Mumbai and the technology is expensive. That’s why the price is high.”
_Dhoom 3_is the first Hindi film to release in the Imax format. The ticket prices for the film range from Rs 400 for the morning show on Saturday morning to Rs 800 for the night show on the same day.
The ToI report notes that nationally the average ticket price is likely to go up by 10-12 percent. However, in Mumbai, the rise can be as high as 60 percent. Cities like Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Delhi, Chandigarh, have controlled markets where the law doesn’t permit a steep price.
However, Dhoom 3’s lead actor Aamir Khandenied any increase in rates and said the movie tickets will be sold at the same price as Shah Rukh Khan starrer_Chennai Express_, which released earlier this year.
Produced by Aditya Chopra, Dhoom 3 starring Aamir, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, is all set to hit cinema houses today.
“There is no truth in this (about increase in ticket prices). The price range of_Dhoom 3_tickets is same as what it was for_Chennai Express._.. Not even a percent increase is there on ticket prices,” Aamir told reporters on Thursday.

“The only difference is that an Indian film is getting released in IMAX. There are four-five IMAX theatres in India, including two in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. The ticket prices of IMAX theatres are more… I don’t know what are the normal tickets rates in IMAX,” Aamir said.
