As the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war continues to rage on, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he is drawing out a “comprehensive plan” for how he believes the war should end. The proclamation from the Ukrainian leader came on Friday. However, there are no public talks currently underway between the two warring nations.
While Zelenskyy hosted a major international peace summit in Switzerland earlier this month, Russia was not invited to the event. “It is very important for us to show a plan to end the war that will be supported by the majority of the world,” the Ukrainian leader said on Friday.
“This is the diplomatic route we are working on,” he added. Zelenskyy’s comments came while he was conducting a joint press conference alongside Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar.
Is the world inching closer towards the end of the war?
While addressing the media in Brussels on Thursday, the Ukrainian leader said that he would put forward a “detailed plan” on how the war should be ended “in a matter of months”. He insisted that Kyiv does not have “too much time in its hands”, pointing to the high casualty rate among soldiers and civilians, AFP reported.
Over 90 nations sent representatives to the two-day summit Zelenskyy hosted in Switzerland. While it was stated that the countries would come together to discuss the end of the war, the other warring nation, Russia, was outcasted from the summit.

More ShortsInterestingly, the vast majority of the participants agreed to a final communique that stressed the need for Ukraine’s “territorial integrity” to be respected in any settlement.
However, many nations such as Indian, did not agree with the communique and Russia’s strong ally China went on to boycott the summit altogether. At that time Beijing reasoned that they would not attend the international event since Moscow was not being invited.
Ever since the beginning of the war, Ukraine repeatedly maintained that Russia must pull its troops out of the internationally recognised territories to ensure a “just end” to the war. The Zelenskyy administration has often demanded the Russian authorities to withdraw its troops from the Crimean peninsula. The region was annexed by Moscow back in 2014.
Zelenskyy has maintained that the aforementioned conditions needed to be fulfilled before the two nations could even sit and talk about peace prospects.
While Russian troops are slowly advancing on the battlefield, claiming to have seized another small village on Friday, Kyiv is working day and night to rally Western allies for financial and military aid to counter the Russian wrath.
