The Kremlin announced on Monday that it is “actively preparing” for President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India, expected before the end of the year, and expressed hope that the trip will be productive.
According to the Kremlin, Putin is scheduled to visit India in December. His last visit was in December 2021, just months before he ordered Russian troops into Ukraine in February 2022.
“We are currently actively preparing for Putin’s visit to India,” Reuters quoted Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying in Moscow.
Peskov declined to provide details on any potential agreements that could be finalized during the visit.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to halt India’s purchases of Russian oil, with India remaining one of Russia’s largest buyers.
