US President Joe Biden said that the ongoing Israel-Hamas war should come to an end while reacting to the news of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) recovering several dead bodies from Gaza. The proclamation from the American president came while he was exiting the church in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, The Times of Israel reported.
While addressing local reporters, Biden stated that there are uncertainties about the exact number of dead bodies found by the Israeli military in Gaza. “A lot of speculation about who they are,” he noted urging the people to wait until they are identified and “their families are notified.”
“It’s time this war ended. We should end this war. I think we’re on the verge of having an agreement,” he remarked. Biden also announced that dual Israeli-US citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin was among one of the hostages whose bodies were recovered from the region. The POTUS noted that six bodies were found in a tunnel beneath Rafah.
“I am devastated and outraged,” Biden said, adding that he and other Americans will have Hersh’s parents Jon and Rachel in their prayers. “I have worked tirelessly to bring their beloved Hersh safely to them and am heartbroken by the news of his death. It is as tragic as it is reprehensible. Make no mistake, Hamas leaders will pay for these crimes. And we will keep working around the clock for a deal to secure the release of the remaining hostages,” he added.
Families of hostages call for protests
Meanwhile, shortly after the news broke out, the group called Hostages and Missing Families Forum issued a statement slamming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and called for demonstrations across the country.

Now it’s a fact,” the group said adding that “starting tomorrow the country will tremble, we are calling on the public to prepare.” Following the statement, the families of hostages gathered for an emergency meeting at the group’s headquarters. They discussed the plans to hold a demonstration on Sunday.
The identity of one of the victims confirmed
On Sunday, the parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, an Israeli-American taken hostage on October 7, confirmed that their son was one of the hostages IDF found dead in Gaza. “With broken hearts, the Goldberg-Polin family is devastated to announce the death of their beloved son and brother, Hersh. The family thanks you all for your love and support and asks for privacy at this time,” the family said in a post on Facebook.
The California native was held hostage while he was trying to escape terrorists who infiltrated the Nova music festival. Polin eventually lost his hand in a grenade blast during the October 7 attacks. He also appeared in a Hamas propaganda video in April.
