Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a ceremonial red carpet welcome at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv on Wednesday as he started his two-day state visit to Israel.
PM Modi was received at the airport by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu, marking his first visit to the country in nine years.
Netanyahu greeted PM Modi with an embrace and was subsequently accorded a ceremonial welcome by the Israeli military, highlighting the strong friendship and close ties between the two countries.
Later in the evening, PM Modi is scheduled to address the Knesset at 8 pm. He will also visit a technology and innovation exhibition before attending a private dinner hosted by Netanyahu.
On Thursday, the Prime Minister will visit Yad Vashem at 12:15 pm. Established in 1953, Yad Vashem serves as Israel’s official memorial to the six million Jews who were murdered by the Nazis during the Holocaust.
