PM Modi Israel Visit Live Updates: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a two-day visit to Israel to strengthen strategic ties, meet Benjamin Netanyahu and address the Knesset
Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled to Israel on Wednesday for a two-day visit focused on advancing a partnership that has grown across defence, technology and trade. In a departure statement, he described the relationship as a “robust and multifaceted strategic partnership”, saying he would meet his counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu and address the Knesset.
“Ties have significantly strengthened in the last few years,” PM Modi said.
During the 24-hour visit from February 25 to 26, most engagements are scheduled to take place with both leaders participating. Benjamin Netanyahu will receive PM Narendra Modi at Tel Aviv airport, as he did during PM Modi’s previous trip in July 2017, before they travel together to Jerusalem. In addition to bilateral talks and press statements on Thursday, the leaders are expected to attend PM Modi’s address to the Knesset, a private dinner, an innovation event, a visit to the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial museum, and potentially an interaction with the Indian–Jewish community in Israel.
