US and Ukrainian officials, on Sunday, outlined a new peace framework – a 28-point draft plan – aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict with Russia while fully safeguarding Ukraine’s sovereignty. The framework follows intensive discussions in Geneva on the US-proposed peace plan, which both sides described as constructive, focused, and respectful.
The talks marked meaningful progress in aligning positions and identifying next steps. Both parties emphasised that any future agreement must ensure a sustainable and just peace. Following the consultations, the US and Ukraine drafted a refined framework, signalling a shared commitment to ending the war and reducing further loss of life.
The Ukrainian delegation expressed appreciation for the continued support of the United States and President Donald Trump for his efforts to achieve a resolution. Officials confirmed that work on joint proposals will continue in the coming days, with close coordination with European partners. Final decisions under the framework will rest with the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States. Both sides reiterated their dedication to achieving a peace that guarantees Ukraine’s security, stability, and reconstruction.
Trump addresses criticism over peace plan
US President Donald Trump, responding to criticism from Kyiv regarding his peace proposal, blamed the Russia–Ukraine conflict on weak leadership in Washington and Kyiv.
He argued that the war “would have NEVER HAPPENED” under stronger US and Ukrainian leadership, noting that it began before his second term, during the Biden administration, and had worsened since.
