The authorities in Washington DC have recovered the wreckage of a military helicopter which was involved in a mid-air collision with a passenger jet, killing a total of 67 people in both aircraft.
Federal officials said that the wreckage of the helicopter was from the Potomac River on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the authorities also recovered some additional parts of the American Airlines plane that was about to land at the Reagan National Airport when it collided with the helicopter.
The wreckage of the UH-60 Black Hawk chopper will now be offloaded to a barge and will be taken to a secured location. The officials said that they will now be looking for the right engine and a tail rotor from the helicopter.
The development came two days after the rescue workers confirmed that they had recovered the bodies of all the 67 victims who died in the crash which is seen as one of the deadliest in American aviation history.
Soon after the crash took place US Figure Skating said that 28 people on board the flight were connected to the sport. The helicopter had three military personnel onboard. They were coming from a training mission from Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
