Labour Party deputy leader Angela Rayner was appointed as Britain’s deputy prime minister by new Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Friday, the first appointment to his top team of ministers.
She will also serve as secretary for levelling up, housing and communities.
Rayner has often spoken about her tough background growing up in a deprived public housing block and leaving school early as a young mother.
She started her career as a trade union official before embarking on a career as a lawmaker.

The UK has its first change in government in 14 years after the Labour Party won a landslide victory early Friday in a general election that saw the Conservative Party suffer its biggest defeat ever. Labours have secured 412 of the 650 parliamentary seats, while the Conservatives were reduced to 121.
This is a breaking story.
