To end the never ending Russia-Ukraine war, top delegates from the United States, Ukraine, France, Britain, and Germany gathered in Geneva to discuss Washington’s draft plan to end the escalating crisis.
The diplomats assembled for Donald Trump’s controversial 28-point plan. The central figures included US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The Russian invasion reached its fourth year dismantling the national security and intensive food crisis.
Italy also sent a delegate, reflecting broad continental involvement.
Trump’s peace proposal
US President Donald Trump said Zelensky had until Thursday to approve the 28-point plan, which aims to neutralise the war within its limits.
The draft plan declared by Trump required cede certain territories and restrict the size of the military and its territory reducing the capability of the armed forces renouncing their aspirations to join Nato.
National security advisers from the so-called E3 alliance of France, Britain and Germany will join the discussions, alongside the European Union

European officials have responded by forwarding an alternative draft peace deal to both Washington and Kyiv, aiming to safeguard Ukrainian interests, uphold security values, and counter concessions.
European and other Western leaders said on Saturday the US peace plan, which endorses key Russian demands, was a basis for talks to end the war but needed “additional work”, as they seek a better deal for Kyiv before Thursday’s deadline.
Losing dignity
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned before the talks that Ukraine risks “losing dignity and freedom or the support of Washington" depending on the negotiations.
The US has put forward their stance that no final deal will be disclosed until a direct meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and US.
Russian President Vladimir Putin described the plan as the basis of a resolution to the conflict, but Moscow may object to some proposals in the scheme withdrawing troops from occupied areas.
