'Not an isolated incident': Trump's top VP contender JD Vance alleges Biden's involvement in rally shooting

JD Vance, the top contender to be former US President Donald Trump’s running mate, blamed US President Joe Biden for the apparent assassination attempt on the Republican presidential hopeful. Trump was shot at a rally in Pennsylvania sending a shockwave across the United States.

Vance who is just 48 hours away from being potentially announced as Trump’s vice presidential pick at the Republican National Convention, pointed the finger at Democrats and Biden for the tragic incident. The 48-year-old freshman senator from Ohio took to X, formally known as Twitter to hurl his accusations.

“Today is not just some isolated incident. The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs. That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination," he wrote in the post.

Immediately after getting shot on Saturday, Trump was seen with a bloodied ear raising his fist as he was escorted by the Secret Services. While Trump’s campaign spokesperson made it clear that he “is doing fine”, the authorities noted that the shooting suspect was dead. One spectator was also killed and two Secret Service agents were injured and rushed to treatment following the incident.

It is interesting to note that Vance was not the only Republican to take such a stance over the matter. Without sharing any sort of concrete evidence, House Representative from Georgia Mike Collins alleged that Biden was responsible for “inciting” the assassination. “Joe Biden sent the orders,” the Republican congressman tweeted.

“The Republican District Attorney in Butler County, PA, should immediately file charges against Joseph R. Biden for inciting an assassination,” he added.

Meanwhile, Trump’s campaign has made it clear that he will attend the Republican National Convention, two days after surviving a gunman’s attempt to assassinate him.

“President Trump looks forward to joining you all in Milwaukee as we proceed with our convention to nominate him to serve as the 47th President of the United States. As our party’s nominee, President Trump will continue to share his vision to Make America Great Again,” RNC chair Michael Whatley, co-chair Lara Trump and Trump advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita said in a joint statement.

“As was communicated earlier this evening, President Trump is doing well and grateful to law enforcement and first responders for their fast action,” the statement the statement further reads.
