Any Black or Hispanic voter who backs Kamala Harris in the upcoming US presidential elections ’need to get their head examined’, said the Republican candidate Donald Trump.
In an election rally in Atlanta, Trump seemed to have indicated a similar view he had expressed earlier about Jews that Black and Latino people who do not vote him to power are not in their right minds.
“Any African American or Hispanic– and you know how well I’m doing there – that votes for Kamala, you gotta have your head examined. Because they are really screwing you. They are really screwing you,” the former president said.
Will Trump’s comment hurt his campaign?
His comments have likely proved disastrous for his election campaign as polls show how hostile both groups have become to him.
According to a New York Times/Siena College poll, 78 per cent of Black voters have said they would support Harris-Walz as opposed to 15 per cent who said they would vote for Trump.
Meanwhile, 56 per cent of Hispanics said they would back Harris while 37 per cent would vote for Trump.
‘It’s him who should have his head examined’
In a response to Trump’s recent comments, Harris’ campaign spokesperson said, “If Donald Trump thinks insulting Black and Latino voters is the key to earning their respect and their votes, it’s him who should have his head examined – and he should man up and release his medical records so that voters can understand what exactly is going on with comments like this.”
