Elon Musk has been a newsmaker ever since Trump opened a new department and made him its head. Being Doge’s chief has kept the tech mogul busy as assumes the responsibility of cleaning up the federal government. Under Musk, the Department of Government Efficiency has fired thousands of federal employees and the world’s richest man thinks that his moves have gained him haters who want to “kill him”.
In an interview with Fox News, Musk said, “When you take away people’s … fraud, the money they’re receiving fraudulently, they get very upset, and they basically want to kill me because I’m stopping their fraud.”
“And they want to hurt Tesla because we’re stopping this terrible waste and corruption in the government. And, well, I guess they’re bad people. Bad people do bad things,” he added.
Musk stated that government fraud is “so high” that it is contributing to a $2 trillion annual deficit, expressing concern that the US is heading toward bankruptcy due to the “corruption of waste.”
“It’s just … a country’s no different from a person. If a country overspends and doesn’t spend wisely, just like a person, a country will go bankrupt,” the billionaire said.
Since January, doge has investigated multiple federal departments and agencies, including the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the US Institute of Peace, leading to the dismissal of thousands of employees and the suspension of congressionally allocated funds. DOGE has faced strong opposition from congressional Democrats and has been met with numerous legal challenges in court.
