Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu heard an earful from the Bibas family, three of whose members’ bodies were returned by Hamas a few days ago.
Ofri Bibas, the sister-in-law of Shiri Bibas – the hostage who died in Hamas’ captivity with her two young sons – slammed Netanyahu, asking him to “shut up” after he repeatedly shared details of Shiri, Ariel and Kfir’s murder against the wishes of the family.
A day before the funeral of her nephews and sister-in-law, Ofri Bibas condemned the release of such information despite the family’s repeated requests, calling it “abuse for its own sake of a family that has gone through 16 months of hell and still has the worst ahead,” in a Facebook post.
Netanyahu reportedly shared gruesome details of the killing of Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas as he held up their picture during a speech over the weekend.
After the speech on Sunday, the Bibas family issued a cease and desist letter to Netanyahu and other government offices, requesting that they refrain from releasing details about the murders of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas, according to the Ynet news site.
The family also issued a statement via the Hostages and Missing Families Forum requesting the media to “stop adding details to the fact that Shiri and the kids were murdered by their captors.”
Just a month after the Bibas family was kidnapped, Hamas said that the children and their mother were killed in an Israeli air strike. However, this claim was rejected by Israel which said intelligence assessments and forensic analysis of the bodies of the Bibas children indicated that they were deliberately killed by their captors.
