Several people were shot at a Mormon church in Michigan on Sunday, and the shooter is down, police said.
The incident took place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, about 50 miles north of Detroit, according to local police.
The church was also on fire, the Associated Press reported. Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public. Details on casualties have not yet been released.
Shooting at North Carolina, 3 killed
The Michigan attack came just hours after another shooting in Southport, North Carolina, where three people were killed and five injured.
Police called that incident a “highly premeditated” attack. Southport police chief Todd Coring said a man named Nigel Edge from Oak Island was arrested for firing from a boat into a crowd at American Fish Company on Saturday night. The shooting began around 9:30 pm along a busy strip of bars and restaurants in the historic port town.
Investigators said Edge pulled his boat close to shore, stopped briefly, opened fire, and sped away.
