Vladimir Putin will take the oath of office as Russia’s president for a fifth term on Tuesday during an inauguration ceremony in Moscow.
Putin, who received 87% of the vote in the March presidential election, will formally begin a second six-year term in power at the ceremony, which is set to take place at the Kremlin.
After the inauguration ceremony, the present Russian government will step down and be replaced by a new one that has been approved by the parliament of the nation through a 2020 constitutional amendment.
Putin will submit his nominee for prime minister to the Russian State Duma, the nation’s lower house of parliament, for approval, according to the Anadolu news agency.
Although the parliament can approve or reject the nominee, if lawmakers reject the candidate three times, Putin will be able to personally install the prime minister without the requirement for parliamentary consent.
Putin will then be able to call fresh parliamentary elections and dissolve the current legislature.
Local media reports indicate that Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who has led the country to economic growth despite the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the Western economic sanctions that followed, is expected to be reappointed.
In conjunction with the Federation Council, the upper chamber of the Russian parliament, Putin will designate the ministers responsible for foreign policy, defense, justice, emergencies, and the interior.

However, there may be adjustments made to the relevant ministries, as well as the prospect of establishing a Youth Ministry, in response to public criticism of policies related to sports, education, and culture.
As per Russian legislation, the new government’s approval process can extend up to May 20 at the latest. However, it is expected that the parliament will receive the list of candidates for prime minister and the council of ministers right after the inauguration ceremony.
