Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi held his first bilateral meeting with Estonian President Alar Karis on the sidelines of the AI summit.

Addressing a press briefing in Paris on Tuesday, Misri said, “This was the first meeting between the two leaders and both of them expressed satisfaction at the growing bilateral cooperation in several fields, including especially the IT and digital sphere, and agreed to increase institutional and people-to-people engagements between the two countries….”
He further said PM Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron will jointly address the India-France CEOs forum later in the day, following which PM Modi will depart for Marseille for further bilateral discussions with President Macron.

More ShortsMeanwhile, in a separate statement, PMO’s office said that PM Modi invited the Estonian government and companies to explore the opportunities offered by the India growth story and take advantage of programmes such as Digital India.
“The two leaders noted the importance of the India-Estonia partnership also in the context of the India-EU strategic partnership. They welcomed the initiation of ministerial exchanges in the India-Nordic-Baltic format. The leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, and cooperation at the United Nations,” the statement added.
Giving details of PM Modi’s visit to France, Misri said PM Modi arrived in Paris on Monday at the invitation of President Macron to co-chair the AI Action Summit and engage in various bilateral meetings.

“At the hotel yesterday evening, the Prime Minister received a very warm and enthusiastic traditional welcome from the Indian community in Paris,” Misri said.
Misri said Prime Minister’s first official engagement was a dinner hosted by President Macron, attended by heads of state, government officials, international organisation leaders, and tech entrepreneurs present for the summit.
“At the dinner, the Prime Minister interacted with several leaders and representatives of the tech industry…This morning, Prime Minister and President Macron were together co-chairing the plenary session of the AI Summit…The summit adds yet another aspect to the growing India-France strategic partnership and in keeping with our track record of cooperation in several areas…,” he added.
