A pilot and co-pilot were killed after an Air Canada Express passenger aircraft collided with a fire truck on a runway at New York’s LaGuardia Airport late Sunday, according to US media reports. Two firefighters were also critically injured when the incoming flight struck a fire engine on Runway 4, NBC and Sky News reported. Several videos showing the aftermath of the incident later emerged.
The incident reportedly occurred at 11:38 pm local time, when a fire truck from the Port Authority Police Department collided with a plane during its landing. According to an NBC report, a sergeant and an officer on the fire truck sustained broken limbs and are in stable condition at a hospital.
Local reports stated that the Air Canada Express CRJ-900, arriving from Montreal, struck a fire truck on Runway 4 while landing.
Flights at LaGuardia Airport were halted early Monday after US authorities issued a ground stop for the major transport hub.
Unverified videos surfaced on social media showing a damaged cockpit.

Authorities halt airport operations
Following the incident, the US Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for all aircraft at LaGuardia Airport, as per an official notice from the regulator.
Several individuals were reported injured in the collision, including five firefighters. Multiple people were believed to be in a critical condition, and there were also reports indicating possible fatalities.
