There is no evidence that Bushra Bibi, the wife of jailed former prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, was poisoned during her incarceration, her personal doctor Dr Asim Yousuf said, who conducted a medical examination on former first lady of the country.
Yousuf said he conducted a medical examination of Bibi and it did not show any evidence that she was poisoned.
Khan and Bibi have both alleged that the former First Lady of Pakistan was poisoned during her incarceration earlier this year. In January, she was handed a 14-year prison term along with her husband in the Toshakhana corruption case. Following the sentence, Khan’s private residence in Islamabad’s Bani Gala neighbourhood was converted into a sub-jail and Bibi was incarcerated there.
Separately, a panel of doctors of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) also examined Bibi and said that no evidence of poisoning was found.

Bibi’s personal doctor Yousuf as well as four doctors of the PIMS conducted separate examinations and reported no signs of poisoning.
Yousuf told Geo News, “At this time, there is no evidence of Bushra Bibi being poisoned. We are not conducting any medical test to ascertain administration of any poisonous substance to Bushra Bibi as no such symptoms are detected.”
Yousuf was further quoted as saying that Bibi’s health worsened after taking a meal two months ago. He said he was unaware of actual health issues two months back. He further said that she started consuming less food at the time due to health issues.

3 drops of toilet cleaner mixed in food: Bushra Bibi
Prior to a court appearance, Bibi told media that “three drops of toilet cleaner” were mixed in her food on the eve of Shab-e-Meraj, according to Geo News. The Shab-e-Meraj was on February 8.
Bibi had said that “someone” had told her in jail that toilet cleaner was mixed in her food, but she refused to name her source.
“My eyes swell up, I feel pain in my chest and stomach,” said Bibi.
Earlier this week, Khan on Tuesday said in a hearing that Bibi was poisoned and that General Asim Munir, the chief of the Pakistan Army, should be held responsible if she is harmed, according to PTI.
Khan has been jailed since last year and has more than 100 cases against her. Since his ouster as the Prime Minister of Pakistan in a trust vote in 2022, he has maintained that he is the victim of a conspiracy of the Pakistan’s all-powerful military and intelligence establishment.
