The Pakistani security forces killed six terrorists on Friday in an intelligence-based operation in Pakistan’s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, news agency PTI reported, citing the military’s media wing.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that security forces conducted the operation in the Ghulam Khan Kalay area of North Waziristan district following reports of terrorist presence.

“During the conduct of the operation, our troops effectively engaged the Khwarij location, as a result of which six Khwarij were sent to hell,” the ISPR said in a statement.

The statement further said that weapons and ammunition were taken from the dead terrorists, who had been involved in attacks on security forces and the killing of innocent civilians.

“A sanitisation operation is being conducted to eliminate any other Khwarij found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” the ISPR statement said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended security forces for their “successful operation” in North Waziristan.

“We will continue the war against terrorism until its complete eradication from the country,” the prime minister was quoted as saying in a statement.

“I, along with the entire nation, pay tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their unwavering resolve in defending the homeland.”

President Asif Ali Zardari issued a separate statement in which he pledged to continue the operation against Fitna-al-Khwarij and said that the “entire nation is united against terrorism.”

The Interior Ministry paid tribute to security forces for carrying out the operation.

“The efforts of the security forces to establish peace are commendable,” the ministry said on X. “The nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the security forces in eliminating Kharijite terrorists.”

Terror attacks have increased since the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group broke a fragile ceasefire with the government in 2022.

Security forces killed 10 terrorists on Monday in an intelligence-based operation in Khyber district, the military’s media wing said.

According to a statement from the ISPR, troops launched the operation in Bagh late on Sunday night after receiving reports of terrorist activity. It added that the forces “effectively engaged” the terrorists at their location, resulting in the deaths of all 10.

A recent security report by the Islamabad-based think tank Pak Institute for Peace Studies revealed that terror attacks in 2024 have reached levels similar to those seen in 2014.

Although terrorists no longer control specific areas as they did in 2014, the report warned that insecurity in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan remains “alarming.”
