Operation Sindoor is still on, says Rijiju after all-party meet

Union minister Kiren Rijiju said an all-party meeting that Operation Sindoor is still going on.

The government convened an all-party meeting on Thursday for a discussion on Indian strikes on terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) in the early hours of Wednesday. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the meeting.

Rajnath informed all parties in attendance that around 100 terrorists were killed in Indian airstrikes, but exact information is being ascertained.

Rajnath further said that India would respond if Pakistan carries out any attack on India. The government maintained that it would not escalate the situation from its end.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Rijiju said that the discussions were constructive and serious.

“The Defence Minister briefed all leaders in detail about Operation Sindoor. Each leader expressed their views with responsibility and maturity, recognising the major challenge the country is currently facing. Across party lines, political leaders said that there is no place for politics in such critical times. All leaders unanimously congratulated our armed forces on the success of Operation Sindoor and assured their full support to the government, with no dissent whatsoever. Several valuable suggestions were also put forward during the meeting,” said Rijiju.

Under Operation Sindoor, India struck the the headquarters of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). These two Pakistan-sponsored terrorist organisations have carried out acts of terror in India for decades. India had blamed LeT for the Pahalgam attack in which terrorists killed 26 people.

Around the same time as the all-party meeting, Pakistani military claimed in a press conference that they had intercepted around a dozen drones in various places in Pakistan. For nearly a day, Pakistan has resorted to aggressive posturing and rhetoric and appears to be setting the stage for an attack on India in response to Operation Sindoor.
