Osama bin Laden, the former leader of terrorist group Al-Qaeda, wanted a world without vices like alcohol.

More than a decade after he was killed, however, Bin Laden has been featured on a best-selling beer in the United Kingdom.

The beer brand ‘Osama bin Lager’, manufactured by Mitchell Brewing Co, was sold out soon after it went viral on social media. The rush to buy the beer and make inquiries about how to buy it was such that the brewery had to shut its website and unplug its phones.

The brewery is famous —or infamous depending on how you see it— for making alcoholic beverages after world leaders opposed to the West. It also makes Kim Jong Ale and Putin Porter named after North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un and Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

‘We’ve woken up thousands of notifications’

Luke Mitchell, the owner of the brewery, has said that he and his wife has been waking up with “thousands and thousands of notifications” for the last couple of mornings.

“We’ve woken up the last couple of mornings with thousands and thousands and thousands of notifications,” said Luke to BBC News.

Luke further said that the names of their beverages are a “nicer outlook on some horrible dicatators”.

“They’re all tongue-in-cheek names – a nicer outlook on some horrible dictators,” said Luke.

Luke added that no one has been offended so far from the beer’s name.

“Everyone laughs when they see the names on the bar. As far as I’m aware, no one’s been offended, but I’m sure there is someone out there,” said Luke.
