The Indian armed forces conducted drone and missile strikes inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Wednesday and Thursday under Operation Sindoor.

On Wednesday, India struck nine terror camps and took out more than 100 terrorists, according to reports.

On Thursday, India responded to Pakistani attempts to escalate the conflict by targeting Indian air force stations on the intervening night of May 7 and 8. These attacks by Pakistan were neutralised by Indian air defence systems, the government said.

Indian forces Thursday targeted air defence radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan, effectively inflicting damage on its air defence units and taking out an air defence system in Lahore.

According to sources, Pakistan’s HQ-9 missile defence system, made by China, was significantly damaged.

Earlier in the day, loud explosions were heard in several cities of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Karachi and Lahore. The Pakistani side earlier claimed they shot down several Indian drones overnight.
